Getting around

Navigating the site

  • Home — journal overview, current scope, and highlights.
  • Editorial Team — the Editors-in-Chief and the full editorial board.
  • Archives — every volume and issue since the journal launched, each with its own page of articles, abstracts, and downloadable PDFs where available.
  • Submit Manuscript — author guidelines, formatting requirements, templates, and the online submission form.
  • Help — this page.
  • Contact — reach the editorial office directly.

The search icon in the header (magnifying glass) opens a site-wide search — it looks across pages, volumes and issues, published articles, and editorial board members, so it's usually the fastest way to find a specific article or person.

Submission FAQ

Common questions

How do I check the status of my submission?

Use the Check Submission Status page with the submission ID and email address from your confirmation email. Status moves through: Received → Under review → Revisions requested → Accepted / Rejected, and a manuscript number is assigned within 3–4 working days of submission.

I didn't get a confirmation email — did my submission go through?

Check your spam folder first. If you're still not sure, email [email protected] with the corresponding author name and manuscript title and we'll confirm it for you.

What does it cost to publish?

Article processing charges are AUD $250 for authors from low-income countries and AUD $400 otherwise — see the Submit Manuscript page for full detail. There's no charge to submit; charges apply only on acceptance.

What file types and formatting do you accept?

Manuscripts and cover letters are accepted as .doc, .docx, or .pdf, up to 20MB each. Full formatting requirements (word limits, structure, reference style) are on the Submit Manuscript page.

Who do I contact about something not covered here?

General enquiries and anything submission-related: [email protected], or use the Contact page. For editorial board membership enquiries, see the invitation on the Editorial Team page.

Acceptable Use & File Safety

Using this site responsibly

The submission form is for genuine manuscript and cover letter files related to a real submission to this journal. Please don't use it to send anything else.

Malicious files, spam, and abusive submissions are not permitted and this site has automated protection in place against them:

  • Only .doc, .docx, and .pdf files are accepted, up to 20MB — and each file's actual content is checked against its claimed type, not just its file extension, so a disguised file is rejected rather than stored.
  • Submission volume is rate-limited per email address to deter automated or spam submissions.
  • Uploaded files are stored in access-controlled storage and are only ever reachable by the editorial office, never served or linked publicly.

If you believe you've found a security issue with this site rather than a content question, please report it directly to [email protected] rather than testing it against the live submission form.

Editorial Policies

How submissions are handled

Peer review process

Every submission is logged and moves through: Received → Under review → Revisions requested (if needed) → Accepted or Rejected. You'll be contacted by the editorial office at each meaningful step, and can check current status any time via Check Submission Status.

Originality & plagiarism

Submission requires confirming your manuscript is unpublished elsewhere (except as an abstract, lecture, or thesis). Plagiarised manuscripts are not accepted — see Submit Manuscript for recommended plagiarism-checking tools authors should run before submitting.

Research ethics

Submissions involving animal studies must include an ethics statement consistent with your country's or institution's ethics committee requirements, provided at submission.

Open Access & Licensing

Reusing published articles

APJFSS (ISSN 2422-9555) publishes open-access issues alongside standard issues — look for the "Open access" label on an issue in the Archives. For the specific license terms and permitted reuse of a published article, or to request permission for reuse not otherwise covered, contact [email protected].

Privacy

How we handle your information

When you submit a manuscript, we collect: corresponding author name and email, affiliation and address, phone number (optional), article category and theme, proposed reviewers, an ethics statement where applicable, and the manuscript and cover letter files themselves.

This information is used only to process, review, and communicate with you about your submission. It's stored in access-controlled systems reachable only by the editorial office through a login-protected admin system — it isn't published, sold, or shared with third parties, other than as needed for the peer review process itself (e.g. with reviewers).

Contact us with any privacy question or request at [email protected].

Accessibility

We aim for this site to be usable regardless of how you browse it — keyboard navigation, screen readers, and reduced motion or zoomed text should all work. If you hit a page or feature that doesn't work well for you, please tell us at [email protected] so we can fix it.
